With power over your life
You are the only one
With control to choose your path
The easier choice
Is to succumb to the evil
Follow in the footsteps
Of those who hurt you
Of those who hurt others
Listen to the voices
In your head telling you that you won’t make it
Of others telling you that you can’t do it
The far more difficult
But far more worthy choice
Is to rise above
Rise above your childhood
Or lack of
Rise above the pain you’ve endured
Push past the negative emotions
That you feel
Change your path
Change it again
Change it consistently
Change until you are
Where you need to be
But never forget
Where you started
Because high end or low
We all have a story
And that story is what got us
To where we are today.
